The Central Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P), Pervez Khattak, said on Saturday that his party, which had been established after he had quit the PTI, would form the next government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and that it was fully prepared for the upcoming general elections. He was addressing a public meeting in Malik Abad’s Razaar tehsil, the first-ever power show of the PTI-P in the district which also kick-started the party’s election campaign. He said his party would expose the leaders of other political parties, especially the PTI, who he said had ruled the province for nearly two constitutional terms but had still failed to deliver and meet people’s expectations. Pervez Khattak and other speakers on the occasion claimed that they were in the hearts and minds of the people and enjoyed a strong position. Khattak claimed that once the PTI had attained power in the province, it had become inaccessible to the people, adding that political leaders made various promises during election campaigns but failed to deliver on them after getting elected. He further said that he knew how to obtain funds and how to talk to the Asian Development Bank and other organizations and agencies, adding that when he was chief minister, he had worked for the progress and prosperity of the people. He further claimed that the network of roads spread by him in Swabi district and other regions of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was proof of his hard work, adding that no other provincial government had established a motorway and that it was he who had built the Swat Motorway.     Published in The Express Tribune, December 31st, 2023
