Pakistani Suliman Khel nomadic tribes have been stranded at Angor Adda on Pak-Afghan border waiting to be allowed to enter Pakistan for the past several weeks. Official sources told The Express Tribune that these nomads are waiting for verification from the local tribal elders so that they can be allowed into Pakistan. “Security forces are not allowing anyone to enter Pakistan without verification, leaving hundreds of families including women, children and elderly to wait under the open sky in extreme cold weather,” he said. An elderly nomad Umar Gul said that they have been travelling seasonally across the border for centuries without any difficulty but these days is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to cross the border. “We are without food. Our livestock is without food and we are waiting under the open sky in the freezing cold but without any assistance,” he noted. Published in The Express Tribune, March 13th, 2023.
