In a significant development, police in Jalozai, Nowshera district, solved a blind murder case and apprehended a man for the alleged honour killing of his wife.
Just two days before Eid, the body of a woman was discovered in the Kabul River, indicating that she had been killed and then disposed of in the river.
Authorities immediately initiated an investigation into the incident. After exhaustive efforts to establish the victim’s identity, her brother finally came forward and identified her.
He expressed suspicions regarding the involvement of her husband in the murder. The suspect, identified as Younas, a resident of Orakzai currently residing in Jalozai, was subsequently located and arrested, a police
official told The Express Tribune.
During police interrogation, Younas confessed to killing his wife and discarding her body in the Kabul River using a hand cart. Police have recovered the cart as evidence and have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the
accused.
As the investigation progresses, further details regarding the truth of the case are expected to emerge. The initial statement from the official suggests that the suspect has already admitted to the crime.
