Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Pervez Khattak has decided to launch his own political party named “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians” days after the PTI terminated his membership. Sources familiar with the development said that Khattak has also finalised the flag for the new outfit carved out of the PTI by assembling his former party colleagues, and is expected to announce the formal launch this week. A series of marathon meetings have been held with “important personalities” in Islamabad as well as Peshawar regarding the formation of the party, and while the consultations are still underway, the former chief minister is also in contact with the PML-N. To this end, a flag consisting of green and white colours has been chosen for the new party,” the sources revealed. Besides, Khattak is also courting members of the provincial assembly who had switched their loyalties during the Senate elections and those who could not get PTI tickets during the last election. Khattak, who served as the PTI's secretary general and chief minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during the PTI government, quit the post of PTI KP president soon after the May 9 mayhem. However, earlier this week, the party terminated his membership over his failure to respond to a “show cause notice” issued to him.
