A tragic incident happened on Tuesday in the Nowshera district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) as an assailant opened fire and killed a doctor.
Dr Irfan, the complainant, filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Nowshera Kalan police, recounting the events. He was en route to the hospital with his cousin, Dr Izatullah, a resident of Kurram tribal district, who was driving the car at the time.
Dr Irfan explained, “Dr Izat worked as a gastroenterologist in Mardan Medical Complex (MMC), and we were traveling to Mardan in his car.” Tragically, on Mardan Road in Nowshera, two individuals, Umar and Inayat, riding a motorcycle, opened fire on the vehicle. Dr Izat lost his life at the scene, and the car veered into a ravine, leaving Dr Irfan injured.
The perpetrators, Umar and Inayat, managed to escape on their motorcycle following the heinous act. Dr Irfan disclosed that the accused had a dispute related to a marriage issue with the deceased. Police promptly registered an FIR and initiated an investigation into the case. In the aftermath of the attack, doctors and staff from the Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex staged a protest.
