Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), Justice Ibrahim Khan, expressed grave concern over corruption complaints plaguing the lower courts and urged these courts to take proactive steps to eradicate corruption. He delivered a stern message during the oath-taking ceremony of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association, Bannu Bench in Bannu. Justice Khan emphasized that the lower courts must demonstrate their unwavering commitment to fairness and justice through tangible actions to rebuild the public’s trust in the judiciary. He warned that if corruption issues are not effectively addressed within a month and a half, dismissal notices may be initiated. During his visit to Bannu, the CJ announced the approval of a digital library and IT facilities, similar to those in Mingora Darul Qaza, for Bannu court. He also revealed plans for a service tribunal camp in Bannu, where service tribunal judges will hear cases and make decisions based on merit. This initiative will alleviate the need for people and lawyers to travel to Peshawar for such matters. Justice Ibrahim Khan assured that renovation and repair work on the judicial complex in district Karak would be promptly completed. Published in The Express Tribune, October 20th, 2023.
