Former speaker of the National Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Asad Qaiser, has reiterated that the party will not be dissolved in accordance with the desires of certain individuals. He emphasized that PTI will continue its political struggle within the constitutional boundaries against all odds. Speaking to journalists after appearing before the Peshawar High Court (PHC), Qaiser stated that there were no ongoing negotiations with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), and he expressed unwavering support for PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Qaiser asserted that appearing before the court was their constitutional right, highlighting their belief in the supremacy of the constitution and the law. While acknowledging the challenging period his party was going through, he expressed confidence that the situation would improve over time and return to normalcy. Responding to a question regarding the recent raid on his residence by the excise department in Swabi, Qaiser clarified that the vehicles in question were purchased 10 and five years ago. He mentioned that the department had inspected and returned the vehicles, yet unfounded negative propaganda continued against him. He warned that he could take legal action against those engaged in spreading such misinformation. Addressing the possibility of dissolving PTI, Qaiser emphasized that while dissolution might be someone’s wish, it would not be realized. He reaffirmed PTI’s commitment to its political struggle within the confines of the constitution. Qaiser firmly stood with PTI Chairman Imran Khan and clarified that there were no ongoing negotiations with the PDM. It should be noted that the excise police conducted a raid on Asad Qaiser’s house on June 15 and seized non-customs paid and government vehicles. Published in The Express Tribune, June 22nd, 2023.
